ここ(koko)／そこ(soko)／あそこ(asoko)
※Demonstrative words are words, for example "this", "that", "these", and "those", that show which person or thing is being referred to.
The demonstratives ここ(koko), そこ(soko), あそこ(asoko) refer to places.
こちら(kochira), そちら(sochira), あちら(achira) are politer than ここ(koko), そこ(soko), あそこ(asoko).
①ここ（こちら）
ここ is the place where the speaker is, or closer to the speaker than to the listener.
e.g. トイレは こちらです。
Toire wa kochira desu.
The rest room is here.
e.g. ここは きょうしつです。
Koko wa kyoushitsu desu.
This is the class room.
②そこ（そちら）
そこ is the place where the listener is, or closer to the listener than to the speaker.
e.g. （あなたの）ペンは そこです。
(Anata no) pen wa soko desu.
Your pen is there.
e.g. そちらへ いきます。
Schira e ikimasu.
I'll come there. （I’ll come to your place)
③あそこ（あちら）
あそこ is a place a place which is neither close to the speaker nor the listener.
e.g. トイレは あそこです。
Toire wa asoko desu.
The rest room is there.
e.g. あちらは かいぎしつです。
Achira wa kaigishitsu desu.
That's a meeting room.
