どんな(donna)/どう(dō)
①どんな
どんな(donna) is an interrogative word and used to ask about the state or the nature of the noun.
どんな is placed before the noun, which indicate kinds or sorts, like "N1は どんなN2ですか".
・N1= a noun which the speaker wants to know about its information;things, people, places,etc…
・N2= a kind or sort of N1
e.g.
Q: つぐみこうえんは どんなこうえんですか。
A: おおきい こうえんです。
Q: Tsugumi kōen wa donna kōen desuka.
A: ookii kōen desu.
Q: What kind of park is Tsugumi Park?
A: It is a big park.
e.g.
Q: キムさんは どんなひとですか。
A: げんきな ひとです。
Q: Kimu san wa donna hito desuka.
A: Genkina hito desu.
Q: What kind of person is Ms. Kim?
A: She is a cheerful person.
②どう
どう(dō)is used to ask listener’s impressions or opinions about the noun. as in "Nはどうですか”.
N=things, places, people…etc.
