～ましょうか　

＜Vますform+ましょうか＞　 

This expression is used when the speaker offers to do something for the listener.
The way to make it is to remove "ます" from the "Verb ますform(ます形)" and add "ましょうか".

 

e.g.
  Q：荷物を持ちましょうか。
     A：すみません。お願いします。　
  Q：にもつを もちましょうか。   
 　A：すみません。おねがいします。　
  Q： Would you like me to carry your luggage?
　 A： Yes, please. Thank you.　 
 
 e.g.
　Q：写真を撮りましょうか。
    　A：ありがとうございます。お願いします。
　Q：しゃしんを とりましょうか。
 　  A：ありがとうございます。おねがいします。　
　Q： Shall I take a picture?
       A： Yes, please. Thank you.

 

To decline an offer, add "大丈夫（だいじょうぶ）です" or "結構（けっこう）です" after the word "いいえ.　
"大丈夫（だいじょうぶ）です" is more casual, while "結構（けっこう）です" is more formal.
However, both can sound rude, so be careful how you say them and also express your thanks with "ありがとうございます".

 

e.g.
   Q：エアコンをつけましょうか。
      A：いいえ、大丈夫です／結構です。ありがとうございます。　
   Q：エアコンをつけましょうか。
 　 A：いいえ、だいじょうぶです／けっこうです。　ありがとうございます。
   Q： Shall I turn on the air conditioning?
      A： No, I'm fine. Thank you.　 
 
e.g.  
　Q：カーテンを閉めましょうか。
       A：いいえ、大丈夫です／結構です。ありがとうございます。　
　Q：カーテンをしめましょうか。
   　A：いいえ、だいじょうぶです／けっこうです。　ありがとうございます。
　Q： Would you like me to close the curtains?
　　A：No, that’s fine. Thank you.
